Wilmington, N.C. – The Wilmington Convention Center (WCC) in Wilmington, N.C., has announced the addition of a new Executive Chef. Chef Don Vilain brings more than two decades of culinary experience with him to the largest convention center on the North Carolina coast.
The maritime-themed, Silver LEED certified WCC offers meeting capabilities from 20 to 2,000 people and a variety of spaces including a 30,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall, 12,000-square-foot ballroom, 15,000 square feet of pre-function space and 6,000 square feet of additional meeting space, along with a 12,000-square-foot waterfront event lawn. The building’s architecture and interior design elements are reflective of Wilmington¹s shipbuilding past as a port city.
The WCC is the anchor for Wilmington’s new Convention District. Located riverfront and within the city’s walkable River District, the Convention District is connected by a nearly two-mile scenic Riverwalk.
In addition to spending time at the convention center, attendees can explore everything there is to see and do in our River District when they come to town, said Fredia Brady, General Manager of the WCC. Our walkable downtown with easy access to more than 200 restaurants, shops and attractions, plus three nearby beaches, all come together to create a meeting location that feels like a vacation for attendees.
