New GM at Harrah’s Resort Southern California

  • VALLEY CENTER, CA – Harrah’s Resort Southern California announced today significant changes to its leadership team.

    Regional President and General Manager Janet Beronio will retire this month, and Darrell Pilant (picture below), currently Vice President and Assistant General Manager, will succeed her as the new General Manager.Darrell Pilant

    “Janet is a gifted manager, a good friend and a caring person who is highly respected by her team members and peers,” stated Bo Mazzetti, Chairman of the Rincon Band of Luiseño Indians. “During our General Membership meetings, she reported to our tribal members, who always loved working with her. These qualities, along with her keen business sense, have made all the difference in Harrah’s Resort Southern California’s growth and success.”

    “While we will miss Janet, we are looking forward to working with Darrell, who is a loyal friend to the tribe. He has strong leadership skills and we are confident he will carry on the tradition of maintaining Harrah’s Resort Southern California as the best place to play, and the best place to work,” continued Mazzetti. “We have already benefited from his cu
    tting-edge  marketing skills and uncanny gift for identifying trends, and we are pleased that he will continue to guide us through constantly evolving markets and industry
    changes.”

    Pilant has been with Caesars Entertainment for 19 years. He began his career in 1997 as First Mate at Harrah’s Casino and Hotel in North Kansas City and, over the next 10 years, held positions at seven different locations across the United States, eventually working his way to Assistant General Manager at Harrah’s Resort Southern California.

    “Darrell began his career on the casino floor and spent many committed years working up to his current title,” said Beronio. “He has an incredibly extensive understanding of the business, and I could not be more proud to see him take on this new role. I have no doubt that his stragetic and creative direction will continue to lead Harrah’s Resort Southern California to the highest excellence.”

    Pilant is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, and served in theU.S. Naval Reserve as Lieutenant Commander before retiring.
