Michelin Guide Holds Special Event at Sacramento’s SAFE Credit Union Conv. Center

In this era of food and beverage, culinary events consistently shine in Sacramento. That’s because, one, it’s part of a very diverse agricultural region; and two, it has some of the finest dining establishments to be found anywhere, often headed by the most talented chefs. Who would know more about that than the people at the world-famous Michelin Guide? Recently, the Michelin group hosted its 2025 Michelin Guide California awards ceremony at Sacramento’s award-winning SAFE Credit Union Convention Center.

According to a recent announcement by Visit Sacramento, the city’s new destination management organization, what was special about the booking was that it “officially highlighted the evolution of Sacramento as a premier convention city.” One of the reasons it was chosen was the city’s award-winning convention center, SAFE, along with the city’s commitment to innovative farm-to-fork dining, its culinary leaders, and “bleisure” opportunities.

At the Michelin awards ceremony at SAFE, Chris Barnum-Dann, chef and owner of the city’s popular Localis restaurant, not only retained his Michelin Star but also received the very coveted Michelin Sommelier Award too.

In addition, The Kitchen – a family-operated restaurant where, they say, they celebrate six seasons, not four (meaning early spring, late spring, early summer, late summer, early fall, late fall, early winter, and late winter) – received enviable Michelin honors too.

So, congratulations to Sacramento as it continues to evolve, attracting new, citywide conventions and events. Special news here is that it recently contracted the Unified Wine & Grape Symposium, one of its largest groups, for a 10-year agreement.

Our advice: If you’re a MICE planner for large or small groups, you’ll want to learn more about what Sacramento can do for you by contacting Visit Sacramento’s Senior Account Executive, Christine Tibert. She can be reached by contacting Visit Sacramento at https://www.visitsacramento.com/contact/

Meanwhile, the excitement continues as the city prepares for another big F&B event: the inaugural Terra Madre Americas. It’s “a first-of-its-kind” celebration of slow food in North America. Sounds like another new trend in F&B. To find out how it all pans out, stay tuned.
