This Spring, Midwest City to Host Major Int’l Event

While some cities across the U.S. might be getting ready for “spring break,” that popular collegiate meetup that hits coastline resorts every year at this time, one Midwest city is preparing for something of another caliber – an international event of world-class status. That is NATO’s upcoming Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) scheduled for May 22-26 in Dayton, Ohio. This is particularly newsworthy, especially since it is the first time Dayton will host this significant springtime international event.

At that time, the Midwest city will welcome delegates, staff, and family members, totaling more than 1,000 attendees. This includes some 300 voting delegates from member nations.

That said, Destination Dayton, the city’s destination marketing organization, is “leading the ‘delegate experience’ initiative, ensuring a warm and engaging welcome for all visitors.” More specifically, this includes staffing ambassadors at local airports and hotels, coordinating bus transportation, assembling VIP welcome bags, and providing information about Dayton’s renowned attractions, vibrant arts and culture scene, exceptional dining, and abundant outdoor recreation opportunities.

Jackquelyn Powell, president/CEO of the destination group, reaffirms, “Dayton has a rich history of innovation, diplomacy, and global significance. We are thrilled to welcome NATO PA delegates and showcase all that makes Dayton an exceptional place to visit. From world-class attractions to our thriving culinary scene and stunning outdoor spaces, we want every guest to leave with a deep appreciation for our community.”

The event also coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords, reinforcing Dayton’s legacy as a center for international dialogue and diplomacy. It has been commented that the choice city was chosen for its “warm hospitality and vibrant community, and the city is ready to showcase the city and demonstrate why it is an excellent choice for such world-class conferences.

The NATO PA conference, as it is called, serves as a vital link between NATO and the legislatures of its 32 member nations, fostering dialogue on security and defense issues.  Destination Dayton aims to make a lasting impression on all who attend this historic event.
