VISIT BALTIMORE’S SMALLTIMORE 2.0: B-SIDE RECORDS HITS THE ROAD THIS SUMMER

Visit Baltimore

BALTIMORE, MD – Visit Baltimore’s Smalltimore 2.0: B-Side Records is making its way across the Mid-Atlantic this summer, bringing Baltimore’s arts, culture, and community stories directly to regional audiences at festivals and events through late July.

The 24-foot mobile visitor center pop-up, designed as a walk-in record shop, is currently on tour following its May debut at The Stoop Storytelling x Visit Baltimore Event at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. The road show is an in-person extension of Visit Baltimore’s regional B-Side pride campaign, which invites travelers to flip the record on Baltimore’s narrative and discover the authentic stories that define the city’s culture and spirit.

Stops in Pennsylvania this month will be followed by Massachusetts and New York in July. The full schedule is as follows:

  • Stoop Storytelling – May 14 | Baltimore, MD
  • Three Rivers Arts Festival – June 5–7 | Pittsburgh, PA
  • Juneteenth Jubilee – June 19 | Philadelphia, PA
  • Philly Fair – June 20–21 | Philadelphia, PA
  • Levitate Music Festival – July 18–19 | Marshfield, MA
  • Great South Bay Music Festival – July 23–26 | Long Island, NY

At each stop, visitors can step inside B-Side Records and dig through crates of 30 custom-designed vinyl album covers spotlighting Baltimore’s deeper story, sorted across four genres: Staff Picks, Deep Cuts, Breakout Hits, and Iconic. At a dedicated listening station, guests can hear the custom track created for the B-Side campaign by seven Baltimore-based musicians. In partnership with The Globe Collection and Press at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), visitors can take a “What’s Your Travel Vibe?” quiz, discover their Baltimore explorer type, and create a custom Globe-style poster featuring their own photo.

Additional local touches include a sticker wall featuring roughly 90 submissions from Baltimore businesses, a community posting board layered with real flyers and posters, and a retail display window with vinyl records by Baltimore artists and B-Side Records merchandise.

B-Side Records is the evolution of the original Smalltimore, which debuted at the Preakness Stakes in May 2025 and made eight appearances across five cities, including Los Angeles, Las Vegas and Houston.

“Our creative culture is one of the reasons people fall in love with Baltimore, and B-Side Records gives us a new way to share that story,” remarked Kireem Swinton, President and CEO of Visit Baltimore. “B-Side Records lets us take the real Baltimore on the road and show audiences in their own backyard what makes our city unlike anywhere else. We always say ‘you won’t get it ’til you get here,’ and now people on the East Coast can experience our culture firsthand.”
