Veteran Marriott Leader Brings Two Decades of Hospitality Leadership
PHOENIX — Sheraton Phoenix Downtown is pleased to announce the appointment of Daryl Rhead as general manager. A seasoned Marriott veteran, Rhead brings with him extensive expertise in franchise services, international asset management, finance, hotel operations, and strategic transactions, positioning him to lead the property to continued success.
Rhead began his career with Marriott International in 2004 in San Francisco. Over the past two decades, he has held leadership roles across finance and operations, including vice president – global asset management and area director of finance for the Americas East Region, and senior finance positions at landmark properties such as Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center, JW Marriott Scottsdale Camelback Inn Resort & Spa, and San Francisco Airport Marriott Waterfront.
Most recently, Rhead served as vice president — owner franchise services, where he drove strong engagement among franchisees to enhance the guest experience and advance critical initiatives, leading the operations and business support teams. During his tenure, he hosted key forums for the franchise management community and drove operational excellence across brand hotels nationwide, including providing strategic support for the U.S. luxury portfolio. Rhead has also contributed to the industry as an adjunct professor at The George Washington University Graduate School of Business and the University of Maryland, teaching advanced courses in finance and hotel operations.
