NEW YORK, NY — The Madison Square Garden Company recently selected AECOM to serve as general contractor for MSG Sphere at The Venetian, MSG’s state-of-the-art entertainment venue currently under construction in Las Vegas. The world-class team also includes Populous and RLB (Rider Levett Bucknall).
“AECOM’s experience creating bold, innovative projects makes them the ideal partner for bringing MSG Sphere at The Venetian to life,” said Jayne McGivern, MSG’s Executive Vice President of Development and Construction. “We look forward to working with them to deliver a truly groundbreaking experience for Las Vegas, one that will ultimately redefine the entertainment industry and serve as a long-term investment in the city’s role as a leading international tourist destination.”
Connected to Las Vegas Sands’ Venetian Resort via a pedestrian bridge, MSG Sphere at The Venetian will be spherically shaped, 360 ft. tall and 516 ft. wide, with a fully programmable LED exterior. Featuring a scalable capacity of approximately 17,500 seated, MSG Sphere at The Venetian is being engineered to deliver a multisensory experience to all guests:
Sight: The Sphere will surround guests with an LED screen billed as the world’s highest-resolution and largest at more than 160,000 sq. ft. of display surface.
Hearing: The advanced acoustics system features beamforming technology, which enables audio to be directed to specific locations in the bowl at a volume that remains constant from point of origin to destination.
Touch: An infrasound haptic system will use deep vibrations so that guests can “feel” the experience.
Smell: Evocative scents will be dispensed to transport audiences.
In addition, the venue will feature an array of first-class amenities such as luxurious seating and areas designed specifically for artists.
MSG Sphere at The Venetian will host concerts, residencies, family shows, corporate events, award shows, product launches and select sporting events. It is scheduled to open in 2021.
