  • NIAGARA, NY — Pegula Sports and Entertainment (PSE), owners of the Buffalo Bills, Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Beauts (pro women’s hockey), and Niagara University have announced a multifaceted partnership through which the two organizations will work together to bring PSE’s sports management and marketing knowledge to Niagara students.

The partnership will place Niagara students in internships and jobs to offer them real world, professional sports experience while exposing them to high-ranking individuals in the sports management realm. An additional component will bring PSE personnel to NU classrooms where those individuals will impart their firsthand knowledge of operating pro sports organizations to those in the university’s College of Hospitality and Tourism Management program, which has a sports management component.

“I think it’s a new way of education,” said Russ Brandon, Managing Partner and President of PSE. “You’re going into the classroom with people who are on the ground — who have tons of experience in the fields that the students are interested in. I think it’s very valuable for the students at Niagara University, and it’s great for all of us here at Pegula Sports and Entertainment.”

Rev. James J. Maher, C.M., President of Niagara University, said, “A partnership like this puts students right on a pathway for experiential learning and internships, and those become the quickest pathways for them to find a career in, for example, hospitality and sports management. I think that’s really something that’s a very clear opportunity for our students, and one of the reasons why we’re so attracted to the Pegula brand.”
