INDIANAPOLIS, IN — An audience of 18,274 fans attended Metallica’s WorldWired Tour on March 11 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse, establishing the largest single-event concert attendance in the arena’s nearly 20-year history. Of note, the concert was hosted less than 24 hours after the arena staff conducted the five-day Big Ten Conference women’s basketball tournament, which ended Sunday evening, March 10.
“Bankers Life Fieldhouse has long been known for its status as one of the world’s great basketball arenas,” said Pacers Sports & Entertainment President and Chief Operating Officer Rick Fuson, “and we are also fortunate to host some of the entertainment world’s most diverse and iconic concerts and shows.”
“Hosting Metallica is yet another landmark for our great facility, and we are proud to continue welcoming guests in record numbers. The energy in the building was electric last night. We are thankful for our dedicated staff for turning over our great arena so efficiently; and thankful to the Metallica crew, Live Nation, Q-Prime Management and Artist Group International for creating the passionate atmosphere for our record crowd.”
