The Central American country’s incentive program for the MICE sector is
one of the strongest in the region, having attracted more than 60 events
since its implementation less than 1 year ago

MEXICO CITY – AUGUST 24, 2022 – PROMTUR Panamá, Panamá’s international
destination marketing organization (DMO), will be participating at IBTM
Americas taking place this year on August 24 and 25 in Mexico City, to
reinforce its strategy for promoting and attracting events through a
unique incentive program which offers meeting and convention planners
comprehensive service support to create authentic tourist experiences in
the region.

“Our fully dedicated team takes great pride in offering industry meeting
planners significant support, unmatched in the region, including
everything from a wide variety of products and services to ease of
transportation and opportunities to explore the wealth of our culture
and biodiversity – all of which make any event in the country a unique
and incomparable experience,” says Fernando Fondevila, General Director
of PROMTUR Panamá.

Since the launch of its new incentive program, the country has attracted
several international conventions and events such as FIEXPO [1], SAHIC
[2], ATTA [3] and AR Adventure [4] and association’s congresses. Behind
the quick lineup of meetings and exhibitions, there is a well thought
a strategy focused on offering both corporations and associations a
comprehensive experience guaranteeing the success of their events while
also making them aware of the attractions that differentiate Panamá as
an authentic destination.

PROMTUR Panamá supports these events with services such as inspection
visits, airport transfers, welcome receptions, and much more. At the same
time, it offers unique tourist experiences so that participants take
full advantage of the natural and cultural attractions and beauties of
the country, such as visits to the Biomuseo [5] to learn about the
surprising biodiversity, to the Plaza Mayor Museum to travel in the time
to Colonial Panamá, and the Panamá Interoceanic Canal Museum to learn
more about the exciting history of the route that connected the oceans
since 108 years ago and those who worked tirelessly to build it. The
most successful natural experiences include, among others, the
connection with nature in the Emberá Querá indigenous community,
visits to the jungle with expeditions to Lake Gatún, the walkthrough
the Metropolitan Natural Park to enjoy the forest and its beautiful
wildlife, as well as the zipline in Gamboa that offers unforgettable
views. Signature experiences include the Panamá Canal in all its
splendor and a tour of Panamá City, modern and ancient.

In addition to the extraordinary incentive plan, the country’s promotion
strategy – to bring the MICE sector to levels higher than those of the
pre-pandemic – highlights the ease of connection for all North, Central
and South America and the Caribbean, the expansion of its hotel offer
with highly recognized brands, and the new tourism brand platform
“Panama Lives For More” invites all types of visitors, whether for
business or pleasure, to make the most of the cultural benefits and
unique tourism experiences that the country offers.

The new Panamá Convention Center [6] further strengthens the country’s
offer as a strong player in the region for the MICE sector. Located on
the Pacific Ocean at the entrance to the Panamá Canal, it has a
15,400m2 exhibition hall, 16 meeting rooms with 2,400m2, and capacity
for up to 23,000 people throughout exhibition halls and meeting rooms.

According to the Tocumen International Airport, Panamá is heading
towards a quick and clear recovery with data that prevents a possible
closure of the year 2022 with more than 13 million passengers, a figure
very close to the 2019 record.

The Visit Panama IBTM booth will include 17 country representatives from
the country’s public and private sectors providing in-depth information
about Panama, along with daily activations showcasing the country’s
