RENO, Nev. (May 6, 2024) – The Reno-Sparks Convention and Visitors
Authority (RSCVA) Board of Directors has finalized the months-long
search process, selecting Mike Larragueta to lead the organization as
its new President and CEO.
“It’s truly my honor to represent Reno Tahoe and the RSCVA,” said Reno
Tahoe President and CEO Mike Larragueta. “I’m grateful for the
confidence of the board and for the continued support of this very
talented team, which is focused on generating tourism and improving the
quality of life for everyone in Northern Nevada. Reno Tahoe is my home;
my family is here, and I intend to spend the rest of my life here. I’m
proud to be able to serve this destination and this community.”
Larragueta brings nearly 30 years of experience in the travel and
tourism industry, incorporating 15 years of local executive experience,
including nine months as the organization’s interim president and CEO.
Serving as the Reno Tahoe vice president of sales since 2017, Larragueta
led and developed the initiative to create Nevada’s only indoor track
facility at the 600,000 sq. ft. Reno-Sparks Convention Center. In recent
months, Larragueta has made efforts to increase support for additional
air service created a new, director of event development position to
expand the diversity of events held throughout Northern Nevada, and has
implemented a local engagement campaign to activate regional event
venues and promote community partnerships.
Larragueta’s extensive background in the travel industry includes more
than 12 years of executive hotel experience at Las Vegas resorts,
including The Venetian, Palazzo, Hard Rock, and The Palms, as well as
time in the Bahamas as the corporate vice president of global
distribution for Baha Mar Casino & Hotel. A Winnemucca native,
Larragueta is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Reno.
