DALLAS, TX (September 12, 2024) – Omni Hotels & Resorts has signed a
development agreement with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, a
collaborative effort by leading Midland-based companies, foundations, and
investors to develop and manage a highly anticipated 135-room luxury
hotel in the heart of downtown Midland, Texas.
Omni, whose headquarters are in Dallas, is excited to expand upon its
Texas presence with the addition of the Omni Midland Hotel – Omni’s 12th
hotel in the state. The hotel plans include approximately 15,000 square
feet of meeting space, a 7,000 square-foot ballroom, 135 guest rooms, a
spa, a rooftop pool, a lobby bar with an all-day dining concept, and a
Bob’s Steak and Chop House. This hotel will be a significant addition to
Omni’s expanding portfolio of 50+ upscale hotels.
“Our partnership with Omni empowers us to move forward with a dynamic
development plan. This is the right time, the right place, with the
right partner. Collaborating with Omni will help us transform this
visionary concept into a reality and seize a unique opportunity to
advance our community while leaving a lasting impact on our economic
landscape,” says Dan Hord, partner at HEDLOC Investment Company.
Omni and Midland Downtown Renaissance LP have engaged two design
partners with deep Texas roots. HKS Architects will be responsible for
the hotel’s architecture, and Looney & Associates will lead the project’s
interior design. Additionally, The Design Agency, known for its unique
approach to blending design, culture, and community, has been
tapped to curate all the restaurants and bars within the hotel to create
destination concepts for the community to enjoy.
“It is an honor to welcome the Omni Midland Hotel to our collection of
one-of-a-kind hotels and resorts. Each of our properties reflects the
authentic spirit of its destination, and this hotel, situated at the
heart of downtown, will play a vital role in its revitalization.
Together with Midland Downtown Renaissance, LP, we are committed to
fostering a strong sense of community and eagerly look forward to
sharing the vibrant essence of the city with our guests,” says Kurt
Alexander, President of Omni Hotels & Resorts.
“This is a tremendous opportunity for the City of Midland and West
Texas. We have envisioned a new convention center hotel downtown for
nearly a decade, and we are now one step closer to making it a reality,”
adds Midland Mayor Lori Blong. “This development opens up endless
possibilities for more conferences, conventions, and events at the
Barbara and George H.W. Bush Convention Center. With Omni’s meetings
and convention market expertise, this new convention center hotel
will enhance our economy and increase visitation across all
travel segments.”
“Many, many thanks go to Omni Hotels & Resorts, the City of Midland, and
all the partners who are making this project a reality. Midland and the
Permian Basin continues to draw attention and investment from all over
the world and, if history is any indicator, this new downtown hotel will
serve our community for the next 50 years,” said Grant Billingsley,
President and CEO of Scharbauer Foundation, Inc.
