(DUBUQUE, IA – May 24, 2024) Oak View Group, operators of Grand River
Center is introducing a public art piece at the entrance of the
convention center, which will be displayed for 365 days. The sculpture
was installed on Wednesday May 15th, 2024.
The sculpture, “SPACE+TIME=THE MOMENT,” was crafted by local artist Dan
Aldeman, with assistance from Jim Kelly and collaboration with Key City
Creative Center is located in Dubuque, Iowa. Dan Alderman is known for his
unique artwork, capturing the Midwest landscape’s charm.
This sculpture is Dan’s tribute to Dubuque, showcasing his
appreciation for the city.
Standing 9 feet tall, this sculpture features a 4-inch-wide limestone
disc that rotates 360 degrees, aligning with the sun daily. Etched at
its center are the river borders of Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois, and the
Mississippi River, with a drilled hole marking Dubuque’s location.
Oak View Group partnered with the City of Dubuque in early February to
bring this project to life. By incorporating public art at the Grand
River Center, Oak View Group aims to bring inspiration, aesthetics, and
connection to the venue and community.
