Bonnie Carlson Awarded During IMEX Frankfurt
Bloomington, MN_ _(June 3, 2024) – Bonnie Carlson, president and CEO
of Bloomington Minnesota Travel & Tourism, was recently recognized as
the recipient of a Paul Flackett IMEX Academy Award at IMEX Frankfurt.
The awards are annually given to leaders in the global meetings and
events industry who have a history of innovation and a long-term
commitment to travel and tourism and pay tribute to former IMEX Managing
Director Paul Flackett.
Bonnie has held the position of president and CEO of Bloomington
Minnesota Travel & Tourism, formerly known as the Bloomington Convention
and Visitors Bureau, for the past 39 years, and she is a leading pioneer
in the travel industry at the city, state, and national levels. Other
notable awards she has received include Explore Minnesota Tourism’s
Excellence in Tourism Award, _Minnesota Meetings + Events_’ Lifetime
Achievement Award, and the Bloomington Diamond Service Awards’ Spirit
of Hospitality Award. Bonnie was also named one of the 25 Women in
Business Industry Leaders by the _Minneapolis-St. Paul Business
Journal_.
In addition to receiving industry accolades, Bonnie is a member of the
U.S. Travel Association Board of Directors is the co-chair of the board
of the newly formed Minnesota Sports and Events organization, and is the
immediate past chair of the International Board of Directors for Meeting
Professionals International. She is involved with other organizations
such as Explore Minnesota Tourism, Destinations International, and U.S.
Travel Association, and is noted for her long-time commitment as a
leader in crafting and supporting policies and initiatives for the state
of Minnesota’s travel industry.
The award comes amid a busy and exciting time at Bloomington, Minnesota
Travel & Tourism. The organization recently underwent a name change, logo,
and brand refresh to match Bloomington’s bold and inspiring Energy.
It also hosted the 26th annual Diamond Service Awards in April.
Bloomington expects a summer season full of activity, with new store and
attraction openings at Mall of America, large sporting events, and new
international flights at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.
