venue-management and services company has appointed Kathy Taylor as
general manager of the Ithaca Downtown Conference Center [2]. An industry
professional with over two decades of hospitality experience, Taylor
will oversee the venue’s upcoming opening this summer.
Ithaca Downtown Conference Center is part of the ASM Global [3]
portfolio, the largest and most diverse network of premier convention
and trade show venues for millions of exhibitors and attendees with an
extensive worldwide footprint that spans five continents.
In making the announcement, ASM Global’s Dan Hoffend, executive vice
president of convention centers, said, “We are thrilled to have
someone with Kathy’s background in sales and executive leadership to
lead our new team in Ithaca. Her excitement for the position and the new
conference center, as well as her passion for Ithaca and the beautiful
Finger Lakes region of New York is pivotal to the long-term success of
Ithaca Downtown Conference Center.”
Most recently, Taylor served as general manager for Genetti Hospitality,
regional director of sales for Genetti Hospitality and director of sales
at Holiday Inn Express & Suites Ithaca. With more than 25 years of
experience in the hospitality industry, she has received multiple
quarterly sales awards from Hersha Hospitality, the Chemung County
Chamber Volunteer Award and the Small Business of the Year Award from
Lycoming County Chamber.
In her new role, Taylor will oversee every aspect of the venue
management and customer experience, as well as working closely with the
Downtown Ithaca Local Development Corporation that owns Ithaca Downtown
Conference Center will drive new economic activity to the destination.

Opening in July 2024, the fully electric Ithaca Downtown Conference
Center [2] [2]will feature over 15,000 square feet of bi-level meeting
space, including a junior ballroom and boardroom, a grand ballroom, and
plenty of pre-function space. Centrally located near downtown hotels and
restaurants, the venue also offers easy access to the natural beauty of
the Finger Lakes, providing a unique opportunity for meeting and event
attendees to explore and draw inspiration from nature.
