PHILADELPHIA, PA — Kavin Schieferdecker has joined the Philadelphia Convention and Visitors Bureau (PHLCVB) as Senior Vice President, Convention Division. In this role, he will be charged with achieving an annual room night goal through meeting and convention sales. He will also oversee the PHLCVB’s services team, which provides on-the-ground support to meetings and conventions.

A hotel industry veteran with more than two decades of experience, Schieferdecker most recently served as the Director of Sales and Marketing at the Hilton Anatole, in Dallas, TX. Prior to that, he spent 13 years with Marriott International in variety of sales leadership roles with stints in Boston, Vancouver, San Antonio, Cleveland, Washington, DC, and Philadelphia.

“After a rigorous national search, we are excited to welcome Kavin to our team for this critically important role,” said PHLCVB President and CEO Julie Coker Graham. “Kavin brings considerable sales and leadership experience and is well known in the industry for his ability to be a diplomatic consensus builder, while successfully managing relationships with various customers and partners. Kavin will be an incredible asset to our team, and our customers are guaranteed to be in very capable hands.”

“Philadelphia has grown and evolved considerably since I last lived and worked here 25 years ago,” said Schieferdecker. “There’s no question that the city is a premier destination, especially when you combine its rich history, attractions, restaurants and continuously improving and expanding hotel offerings with one of the most impressive convention centers in the U.S. I look forward to rolling up my sleeves alongside the talented PHLCVB team, which is already recognized as one of the best in the country.”

“With a citywide convention calendar promising to be the busiest in more than a decade, we are excited to have a partner at the PHLCVB who will help continue this momentum,” said Pennsylvania Convention Center President and CEO John McNichol. “Kavin is highly qualified with a strong customer-first mentality, and we all look forward to working together as we grow and expand opportunities for Philadelphia’s hospitality industry.”
