ATLANTA, GA — The Georgia World Congress Center Authority (GWCCA) has announced that it is the first convention center in the United States to achieve the GBAC STAR™ facility accreditation from the Global Biorisk Advisory Council (GBAC), a Division of ISSA, the leading trade association for the cleaning industry. The GBAC STAR program helps commercial and public facilities of all sizes establish and carry out an organized approach to cleaning, disinfection and infection prevention.

“We are honored to be pacing the industry by achieving GBAC STAR accreditation,” said Frank Poe, Executive Director of the GWCCA. “Although events will look different moving forward, our commitment to our customers, show attendees and team members that the highest cleaning and disinfection protocols are being implemented at GWCC hasn’t changed. We would expect nothing less of ourselves and for our facility.”

“In the wake of COVID-19, meeting planners, exhibitors and attendees want assurances that venues are doing everything they can to provide a safe, clean environment,” added Joe Bocherer, GWCCA’s Chief Commercial Officer. “By achieving GBAC STAR certification, we continue to demonstrate our commitment to providing our customers with the best facility in the country to host their show.”
