Preparing for touchdown in #MexicoCity.

The greenery in view is Bosque de Chapultepec, home to a #zoo, castle from a short lived monarchy and series of world-class museums. In addition to the hotels lining the #park which have facilities for #meetings & #events in the Polanco and Reforma districts, #Mexico's capital is home to at least three venues that can host larger tradeshows - both near the city center and in expansions to the city like Santa Fe, which has become home to corporate parks, malls and modern residential towers.

Two perennial reasons to @visitstatenisland - the #StatenIsland #Ferry and Verazzano Bridge.

With the recent completion of the @empireoutlets, #tourism to #NYC's "forgotten borough" is on the rise. A new waterfront hotel will provide an additional boost to the St. George neighborhood whose #arts & #entertainment venues - the @stgeorgetheatre and @milb @siyankees' Richmond County Bank Ballpark have been the key drivers in the area's revitalization.

The plaza across from @theplazahotel (in view of the new #NYC @aman and footsteps from the @thepierreny) that houses the @apple store in #Manhattan's Midtown is set to reopen this Friday.

This afternoon, #construction workers were putting finishing touches on the iconic #FifthAvenue address, closed since 2017. The #glass cube entrance way in front of the #GMBuilding has been updated to allow for tinted coloring that can be illuminated at night. Skylights have been added to the plaza area allow for natural #light in the expanded underground store below. New Yorkers and #tourists alike will soon return en masse to the flagship store, particularly as new #Apple #iphone and other products come to market.

During #IMEX19, multiple #events were staged in the #restaurants throughout the upscale #mall (@sushisamba was the site of @visitscotland's & @london_cvb's lively #imextheevent and Kamu #Karaoke hosted a delegation from #MexicoCity) not to mention private dinners over which #business was conducted. .

As noted in the previous post, a trend repeatedly noted during #FandDmag's #IMEX19 #meetings was an increased recognition by both #hotel groups and CVBs /DMOs to promote experiences outside of #meetings that enhance their #destination.

#Business travelers are more frequently choosing to extend their stays for regional #leisure experiences either on their own or for their #family #vacation. Indeed, on Instagram we are seeing a flurry of photos from nearby excursions taken by attendees from their post- #imexperience. In addition the richness of resources in @vegas that includes #gaming, #dining & word-class #entertainment, the city is surrounded by an abundance of natural beauty with nearby Red Rock Canyon, Hoover Dam and @lakemeadnps. #LasVegas' @lasairport, serves as a gateway to the @nationalparkservice parks and recreation areas in #Utah, including @brycecanyonnps_gov (see previous post) and @zionnps (images).

Launching the #event from recently opened @kimmelscomedyclub on the @linqpromenade (images 3-5), those gathered learned about the $375 million facility slated to be completed in 2020. #Caesars Forum will house 550,000 square feet of #meeting & event space, including two 110,000 square foot pillarless ballrooms - the world's largest - in addition to 100,000 square feet of outdoor event space. With a stop on the @lvmonorail, the venue will be contiguous with 8,500 hotel rooms in @harrahsvegas, @thelinq, @flamingovegas to name but a few of the adjacent properties. The venue is sure to be a game changer for #eventprofs booking events in the #LasVegas market.

Giant #coloringbook at #IMEX19/ @meetingprofessionalsintl #SmartMonday #education day kickoff. It will be fun to see this filled in at end of the day.

A trend that continues to take hold in the #eventprofs community is taking breaks from the stressful rigors of the day to clear one's mind as they #color. We first saw this at @pcmahq's Convening Leaders #CL16 event at @vanconventions. More recently, we saw a local #Miami #artist #design a coloring book for the @theconfidante in #MiamiBeach. The #irony of the trend is we often find ourselves too busy and stressed to stop and take advantage of what the short break this simple activity is meant to provide.

#traveltuesday to #Toronto's #RogersCentre, home to @mlb @bluejays #baseball. The ballpark, once known as #SkyDome, remains an architectural marvel since opening, particularly due to its retractable roof and hotel room suites in the adjacent @tomarriottcc peer out into the outfield.

The #downtown #stadium is footsteps from the @mtcc_events convention center, a welcoming field for fans and visitors, in addition to being a great location for a group #event after a long day at a conference or tradeshow.
